Urban Data Analyst (Senior Consultant / Consultant)

ROLE SUMMARY

The Urban Data Analyst will serve as a technical specialist responsible for managing, processing, and analysing urban and transport-related data to support project delivery. The role focuses on producing reliable and practical analysis that responds to project needs, while working closely with project teams to understand data requirements and translate them into actionable insights.

1. Data Collection, Management, and Processing

Support the preparation and management of datasets required for project analysis.

Indicative tasks:

  • Collect, compile, validate, and organise datasets related to urban development, transport systems, demographics, land use, and socio-economic conditions.
  • Maintain updated datasets and documentation of data sources and assumptions.
  • Support the preparation of baseline datasets for project analysis and reporting.
  • Ensure data consistency and traceability across project deliverables.

2. Urban and Transport Data Analysis

Provide analytical support to inform urban planning, mobility, and infrastructure-related studies.

Indicative tasks:

  • Conduct descriptive and trend analysis related to urban growth, mobility patterns, service performance, and infrastructure provision.
  • Assist in the development of indicators and metrics to assess urban and transport performance.
  • Support demand-related analysis, accessibility analysis, and service performance assessment.
  • Translate analytical findings into practical insights to inform planning and decision-making.

3. Engagement with Project Teams and Stakeholders

Work closely with project teams to understand analytical needs and ensure timely delivery of relevant outputs.

Indicative tasks:

  • Participate in technical discussions to align data analysis with project objectives, as well as supporting meetings, workshops by preparing data and analytical inputs.
  • Ensure analytical outputs are aligned with project timelines and deliverables.

4. Data Visualisation and Reporting Support

Support the communication of analytical results through clear and structured outputs.

Indicative tasks:

  • Prepare visualization and summaries of analytical results as well as key findings from datasets.
  • Support the preparation of data-driven inputs for reports, presentations, and policy briefs.
  • Document methodologies, assumptions, and analytical steps used in analysis.

 

REQUIREMENTS – Urban Data Analyst (Senior Consultant)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Transport Planning, Geography, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or other relevant quantitative disciplines.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in data analysis related to urban development, transport, infrastructure, or public policy.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling, cleaning, and analysing large datasets related to socio-economic, demographic, mobility, land use, or infrastructure systems.
  • Experience supporting technical studies, feasibility studies, policy analysis, or planning-related projects. Familiarity with urban and transport data sources (e.g., population, land use, mobility, infrastructure, or fiscal data) is preferred.
  • Experience working on projects involving government agencies, development partners, or consulting environments is considered an advantage.
  • Strong ability to manage and analyse datasets using tools such as Microsoft Excel, GIS software (ArcGIS/QGIS), or similar analytical tools.
  • Solid understanding of basic quantitative and spatial analysis methods (e.g., descriptive statistics, trend analysis, indicator development, mapping).
